From Our Land

At Casale San Cristoforo, we believe that the land does not belong to us — we belong to it.

Our 14 hectares are a living part of our family and our everyday life. We are learning to care for this place in a way that respects its natural rhythms, protects its biodiversity and allows the land to flourish.

Wild herbs and flowers grow freely across the farm, creating space for insects, pollinators, birds and wildlife. Olive trees grow alongside native plants, our vegetable garden changes with the seasons, fruit trees provide produce for our kitchen and our animals are part of the life of the farm.

We are gradually bringing more of the land into cultivation, while keeping as much of it wild and undisturbed as possible. We have begun growing ancient wheat varieties and legumes, alongside the olives, fruit, vegetables and herbs that already form part of our farm.

Our land is officially in conversion to certified organic farming, and we use regenerative and permaculture practices to build healthier soil, encourage biodiversity and work with nature rather than against it.

Some of what we grow becomes part of life at Casale. Some we preserve, transform and share — from our extra virgin olive oil and homemade preserves to the grains and pasta we are beginning to produce.

Nothing here happens overnight. Farming teaches you to think in seasons, to be patient and to appreciate the small changes that, over time, become something much bigger.
